Get there by bus: Take bus No.K7、k27、k16、k21 to stop at Youth and Children Activity Center (Shaonian Gong, 少年宫)
 
This route with the most beautiful scenery, very good for couples to have a short romantic hiking.
On the top of Baoshi Mountain, you’ll get the best view of west lake. Paochu Pagoda on Baoshi Mountain is the landmark of west lake. All the way to the west from Baoshi Mountain, pass Ge Hill to Ziyun Cave with Qixia Cave and Niugao’s tomb on the side. On the left hand of Ziyun Cave there is a wild unpaved path to Guapai Mountain and Wushi Peak. The huge rock on the top of Wushi Peak is the superb place for viewing the west of west lake. From Wushi Peak, go 30m back to southwest you’ll get to the Lotus Garden.

Mountain Climbing - Route 2

Get there by bus: Take bus  No. K293, 82/K82, K89, K16, 21/K21, K101, 15/K15, 815, 527/K527, to the stop at Zheda Yuquan Campus浙大玉泉校区下车
 
You can enjoy a winding mountain road and broader horizon along this route. The green tree shaded flagging running on the ridge with luxuriant grass on both sides and birds’ singing. Beigao Feng is a well known mountain in Hangzhou where you can get a nice birdview of west lake which will really carry you away. There is a temple of mammon, an old bell and a Television Emission Tower on the top of the mountain. Go down the hill, there’s lingyin temple from where you can take K7 to get back to downtown.
Tip:
The trail to the Laohe Shan is near the Library of Zhejiang university. go straight along the road behind the font gate, the library is just behind the Mao’s Statue.

Route 3: Lao Dongyue Village老东岳村-Liuxiang Bridge流香桥-Beauty Peak美人峰-Longmen Mountain龙门山-Shiren Peak石人岭-Mist Plaform云雾台-Tianzhu Mountain天竺山-Qipan Mountain棋盘山-Tianma Mountain天马山-Jiqing Mountain吉庆山-Tea Museum茶博

Get there by bus: Take bus No.83, 49, 306 and get off at stop near Laodongyue
This route is full of fun of climbing with lingering aftertaste which is good for outdoor lovers. Go up from Lao dongyue village, after passing a big camphor tree, take a turn to left when you are approaching Fahua Temple, and then cross Liuxiang Bridge. From here to the Beauty Mountain and Longmen Mountain, you have to tramp over 3 mountains through bushes, wire meshes, slippery road and steepy cliff. This distance is unfrequented, so you’d better come with a group. After Longmen Mountain, you get into Shiren Peak directly where there is a fork to Lingyin Nine Dragons on Eight Pagoda and Mist Platform and Shang tianzhu Mountain via lingdang ling to the Tea Museum. The altitude of Tianzhu Mountain is 412m, is the highest point of the mountains around west lake. All unpaved paths on Tianzhu Mountain will give you a lot of fun of climbing. After Qipan Mountain the road will get smooth.

Many historical and cultural relics gathered on this route. Go up from Jieyi Pavilion next to Wansong college, via Tiger cave, get to the Phoenix Pavilion on hoenix Mountain where get all of Hangzhou’s beauty in your view: Hangzhou city, West lake and Qiantang River. Turn back from the pavilion, visit Yueyan, Qiyun emple, and go down the mountain from Fantian Temple.

All along this route is unpaved path full of fun in wild field. Expecially in spring, Azalea flowers and Gardenias are growing on both sides of the path. After Jiuqu Pavilion there is Dingjia Mountain, from left you can get down to Meijia Wu, from right you can get down to Daqing Valley. Straight ahead is Songcheng. From Daqing Valley, you can take Y5 back to town.
